Cluck Cluck Cluck

In our house, we have been in "negotiations" about adding some more beings to our brood. Nope not children (at least not this year!). Chicks! I have been reading, and talking, and reading, and calling, and reading some more. So much goes into adding new members to your home. For instance where will they sleep...well the coop obviously but as babies should they be in the living room? And then to the coop. Should it be stationary? Should it be mobile? Should it exist at all? (I hear free range is pretty nice.) Or the simplest of questions what kind of chickens do we want? Egg layers definitely. But what sorts of eggs? Does color matter? All of these questions and to each one a kind opinion, a gentle nudge, a lot of thought. Well after much deliberation we have come to our decision on most, if not all, of the questions for our soon to be chicks. As we have no barn, the chicks will only come in at night and be in the mudroom for warmth. Their home will be a mobile chicken tractor (style to be determined). As for breeds and eggs, I like the Ameracauna for its' lovely blue eggs, and the Rhode Island Red for its' consistency as a layer. I am super excited to soon have these chirpy, noisy, fluffy little ones in our midst.

Do you have any chickens or new "members" to your household? If so I'd love to hear about it! You can leave a message here in comments or post a link to your site so that we can all check it out. Happy Tuesday!
